OMS : Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health seminars

The seminars alternatively focus on the public health aspects of NCDs (cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and COPD) or mental health (mental, neurological and substance use conditions). They target national program managers in MOHs and WHO country office staff. They aim to:

  • Review the public health aspects of the prevention and control of NCDs and MH
  • Strengthen the competencies of the participants to provide technical support for the development or implementation of NCD/MH public health programmes at the country level

Objectifs
  • To review the public health approaches for the prevention and control of NCDs, with a focus on low and middle income countries
  • To appraise the WHO Global Strategy and the WHO Plan of Action for the Prevention and Control of NCDs, and their implications for the development of national programs
  • To strengthen the capacity of countries to develop priority policies and programs at global level for the prevention and control of NCDs
