TransCure involves researchers in Switzerland (directors: H Abriel; deputy dir: JL Reymond), including (M Bochud [PI], JP Ghobril, and C. Carmeli at the Chronic Diseases Department. The project examines transporter/channel targets in a broad context and identifies opportunities to link basic scientific achievements to future translational applications. Using several population-based cohorts, including SKIPOGH and several publicly available databases, analysis focuses on common variants in genes of specific interest to NCCR (National Centres of Competence in Research) TransCure and associations of these variants with human pathophysiological traits. The wealth of phenotypic information makes associations with genetic variants a promising approach to identify future translational applications.
