In Switzerland over 32’000 persons suffer from inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), which include Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These lifelong complex diseases develop in early adulthood and run highly variable clinical courses, which imply repeated therapeutic adaptations.
The medical care of IBD patients rely on very costly biologicals and novel drugs. Patients centered care of these chronic patients implies not only make appropriate medical decisions, but also to address the patients’ needs and concerns, and to agree on outcomes. The aim are to make a selection of a set of priority indicators, and to implement them in GI practices during a pilot study.
