NIEMI Tapio

Tapio Niemi has worked at Unisanté as a data scientist since 2020. He holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Tampere, Finland (2001). Before Unisantè he worked as an assistant professor at the University of Tampere, senior researcher and project leader at CERN, and a senior scientist and part-time lecturer at HEC Lausanne. He has applied data science methods in several domains such as business intelligence, operations management, green computing, and health data analytics. He is currently active in following topics: automatic pre-coding of medical reports by using neural networks, applying OHDSI-OMOP model to cancer registry data, and estimating burden of sepsis using national medical statistics.
